DO NOT! We
repeat, DO NOT! attempt this cache in the
dark!
One false move will mean serious injury or death! Consider
leaving the really little ones at home for this one, and tie the
pooch to a tree if you have to. By all means be careful and be
aware of your surroundings.
That being said,
This cache has a 2-½ star terrain rating for
a reason. It would be a 5-star if it were not for the secret “safe
passage” entryway that you must find after first finding three
intermediate stages.
You start by searching for a five-inch square
metal container; enclosed are instructions on how to proceed. Each
step of the way will bring you closer to...“The Pit.” Just
don’t go over the edge, OK?
All intermediate stages are located close to
the CT Greenways trail if you can keep track of where it
goes. Remember, getting there is half the fun. Total round trip
is about a mile. Please do not stray onto the Water Supply
Company property marked by "No Trespassing" signs and yellow
markers.
The final is a 30-caliber ammo that as of
3/20/06, seems to be a bug hotel (where did all the stuff
go?)
