Team Marzipan are known for their inventive caches, particularly
their
Village Vexation series, but they have also set some great
multis in beautiful North Wales locations. While I really enjoy
multis I know that some people are not keen on them. So this cache
is both in homage to Team Marzipan's multis such as
Ysceifiog - that's easy for you to say!,
The Axton Series and
Babbling Brook and also for people who hate multis. The cache
is on the Boyd Walk, which is dedicated to the Cheshire naturalist
A W Boyd. He was the first president of the Manchester
ornithological society and before his death in 1959, he was a
frequent visitor to the local area observing the bird population
through his binoculars.
The cache can't be done at night. It has 3 stages, the first of
which is nice and easy- just look in the hole up in the tree. The
whole cache shouldn't take long and there are nice views over to
the hills southwards. There is parking in front of the Quakers'
Meeting House in Frandley. The path actually starts here even
though this is not shown on my copy of Memory Map. Please don't
park at the other end of the path as you will block the road. If
you have trouble at Stage 2, a handy technique is to sit down and
rest your elbows on your knees. As a further hint, there is no
need to get prickled at any of the stages- search with your eyes
before your hands, if find you are, stop as you are doing
something wrong!
One other thing: there is a twist. I hope you enjoy the
cache.
