Geocache Description:

Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center is built on the front of Harvey Allen Battery, built in 1904 as part of the US military's harbor defense of the Columbia. The battery's shell & powder rooms and displays are open to the public with no charge and in reasonable condition.

The Center tells the story of the Corps of Discovery’s journey, focusing particularly on their Pacific Coast stay. It’s not necessary to visit the Interpretative Center to find the cache, but it's well worth a visit, with interactive exhibits that let you try to pack a canoe without tipping it, follow a treasure hunt and check out what the Corps had for its inaugural meal. Admission to the Interpretative Center, operated by Washington State Parks, is $5.00 for adults and $2.50 for kids 7 and up.

The cache is located just beyond the main Battery along a trail behind a small structure. Access to the cache from the main parking area requires a short, steep climb from the parking lot to the battery above. Disabled parking is available via a road that goes right up to the interpretive center.

A Washington State Discover Pass is required to park in the main parking area where the cache is located. A disabled parking placard grants free access to Washington State Parks and the disabled parking area at the upper parking area.
