The Treed Bears Cache is in two parts located along the Quehanna Trail(QT) within the Quehanna Wild Area in SW Cameron Co. The QT is a 75-mile loop with many additional trails on State Forest lands where hiking, backpacking and hunting are permitted. Since you are a geocacher who enjoys hiking and to help you on this search, you may want to pick up a QT map and an Elk or Moshannonn State Forest map from one of the DCNR offices in the area or at the Parker Dam State Park office.
There are turkey, bear, bobcats, coyotes, deer, elk, rattlesnakes and copperheads in the area. Some people even believe there are mountain lions here. If you hike during hunting seadon, be sure to wear some orange clothing. In June, the abundant mountain laurel and rhododendron will be blooming along the trail. While scouting for the cache, I surprised a family of bears on the QT and two cubs climbed an oak tree about 20 yards away -- Treed Bears.
To get ot the cache, on the Quehanna Highway between 7 and 8 mile markers, turn onto the Lincoln Road and follow it to a T intersection where you meet the Hoover Road. Proceed north on it about 2.4 mile and park where the QT crosses the road at: W78° 11.314' N41° 17.545'. I would not recommend driving the Hoover Road during the spring thaw or after a prolonged rainy spell. The road base and drainage are both poor so the road bed gets very rutted and sloppy.
The cache can also be hiked using two vehicle and a 5 or 8 mile thru hike. If you want those directions, send a note and I will give the route.
