The cache is in a popular recreation area, .17 mile from the road, and in an open area. The terrain is a grassy slope. The direct approach is a little steep, but a marked trail offers a gentler, if somewhat indirect, approach part of the way.
The original Sawmill cache was in the same area, but received little maintenance, and eventually vanished from the list. The articles that were water damaged were removed, and the cache was relocated a short distance away. The new site is open, better situated for satellite coverage, and offers good views of the surrounding territory.
