The cache is located on the west rim of Little Creek Mesa. Elevation 5873ft. It is accessible by a car with high clearance in good weather conditions. 4x4 if the weather is bad. STAY ALERT! THE ROAD ENDS AT A CLIFF WITH A VERY LONG DROP OFF! DON'T GET TOO CLOSE!!!
This is a family cache. It is in an ammo can(05-10-06). The area where it is located is rich in Native American history. There is lots of petrified wood and Utah picture stone all the way up and down the mountain.
The view from the cache site is Spectacular! You can see the Grand Canyon Rim to the South, Utah Hill to the West( great view of sand hollow), Bumble bee Mtn, Cedar Mtn and beyond to the North, and an incredible view of Zion to the East. It is a very long drop off the cliff so if you bring kids, hang on to them! ( AUGUST 1 2004, THANKS TO BOANZ FOR THE IMPORTANT REMINDER, IF YOU GO NEAR THE EDGE OF THE CLIFF, PLEASE REMEMBER THERE ARE OVERHANGS ALONG THE CLIFF EDGE AND THEY CAN BE UNSTABLE CAUSING WHOLE SECTIONS TO FALL AWAY. PLEASE BE CAREFULL. THE CACHE IS WELL AWAY FROM THE EDGE SO YOU NEED NOT GET TOO CLOSE!)
(Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for a bench mark as well)
As for directions, Turn off the highway at the Little Creek Cinder Mountain sign. It is all dirt from there. A car with some clearance could drive within a few hundred feet of the cache in good weather. A 4x4 is a must in bad weather. There are lots of little roads going all over. HAVE FUN!
And remember this is the desert so be sure to have plenty of water. And watch out for snakes in hot weather.
