Geocache Description:

Dallas' first night / reflector cache! This cache can only be hunted after dark. You will need a decent flashlight and some fresh batteries, so come prepared. A hiking stick would be a great item to bring along.

Welcome to Nightcaching!

Located in Bob Woodruff Park West off Shiloh Road this is an unusal type of cache. You need to bring a flashlight and some darkness. A tiny Mag Light won't get the job done. Something with a lantern battery D cell batteries will work nicely. A Q-Beam would be overkill!

The listed coordinates are for parking at the nearby Albertson's.

Stage 1 can be found at N33* 02.046 W096* 39.890 As you approch, a trailhead can be found just to the left of the brickwall. Follow the trail to find the Poe Grave Yard and find the Tell-Tale Heart that holds the coords for the start of the reflector trail.

Once you reach the vicinity of the coords found in the Hart, turn on your flashlight if you haven't already. You'll need to shine it about head-high. Shine it around and look for tiny silvery-white reflectors. Start looking west-northwest, away from the creek, to start. Follow the reflectors up the trail until you reach 2 reflectors on a tree.

At this point you leave the trail and head into the woods (still looking for reflectors)to find Stage 2 that will eventually lead you to Nevermore and the cache.

You are looking for The Purloined Letter where the reflective markers end. You will know you are in the right Area when you see Brett's Note which is NOT an element of the cache. It seems Brett, who works at the Nature Center, found someone's camping gear in the make-shift shelter that can be seen near Stage 2. Brett has asked me to leave his note until the gear has been claimed by the owner. Enter the coords from The Purloined Letter to find the spot where the markers start again.

Keep your flashlight pointed ahead and look for the reflectors to start again when you get near the clue's coordinates.

You're very close now! Follow the reflectors to find Nevermore. He watches over the cache from above.

I recommend marking a waypoint at each stop so you'll be able to get back out of the forest with little trouble. Follow the Second Set of reflectors in the opposite direction to head back toward the Nature Center, stay on the trail and you will come to a wooden plank walkway that leads out of the woods.

Wear long pants as the grass can be tall in the summer. The terrain is for the most part level ~ just a few logs, roots and holes in the way.

Good luck and have fun!
