Geocache Description:

Set on the Outskirts of Stone, close to an old disused mental hospital and shrouded by local folklore, talk of ghosts, witchcraft and the occult sits Dinton Folly, the remains of a miniature castle which houses many secrets and much hear’ say.

Continuing our trend of after dark caches this place will really test your nerves. Visiting at night is highly recommended, the atmosphere is sure to give you an adrenalin rush. Built in 1769 by Sir John Vanhatten the now crumbling folly was used to home a large fossil collection. Today it is home to far more sinister activities. Taken from the Strange Thame Website: "In the autumn of 1992 we found some evidence of occult activity at Dinton Folly. It was a few days after Halloween and on calling at the folly we saw six or seven places where large candles had burnt".

If you visit at night make sure you remember a strong torch. People who don't like the strange & unexpected make sure to come during daylight hours. The cache has been moved a little way from the folly to avoid it being muggled for the third time. Please be sure as I’m certain you will be, to replace the cache exactly how it was found, it would be disappointing if it fell into the wrong hands again.
