After a two year obsession, on the morning of 9-12-1999 after a 25 minute 'conversation', a 14-pound 8-ounce 32-inch, Ctenopharyngodon idella, was landed by the older member of Team Evil Fish, using a special ultra-light fishing rig filled with 2# fishing line,(to make a comparison most human hairs are thicker)..This fish broke the old record which stood for 6 years by over 2 pounds.
Ironically, before knowing about the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame, at this same location the 1997 State Record White Amur was landed, by his fishing buddy.
