Son of Dragon's Hairball Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

AV Dezign: ---

I confirm that the cache is no longer under the concrete block where it used to be. I know a lot of people got on it to fish and it would have taken only one to look under to see and take the cache. Oh weel!

This is my secound and last attempt at a cache behind the Dragon's Hockey Team arena, hence the name, I have now placed a cache elsewhere in the park and should show up soon in the nearby cache selection below.

I am now officially archiving this cache hope you all had fun while it lasted...

Borough of Verdun
Population: 60 598 -- Borough's area: 9,9 km2

Verdun was given its name in 1671, by Zacharie Dupuis, then acting governor of Montréal, to whom the Sulpicians had granted jurisdiction over the land. Dupuis named the territory "Verdun", after Notre-Dame de Saverdun, his native village in the South of France. On November 12, 1673, he donated the "Fief de Verdun" to the sisters of the Congrégation de Notre-Dame.

Verdun owes its urban development to the population overflow, consisting mainly of working-class families, from downtown at the beginning of the century. Benefiting from the industrial development of the Lachine Canal, the city steadily grew. Verdun also encompasses the "Nuns' Island". Used as agricultural land until the mid 1960s, Île des Sœurs is now a very desirable residential area, a gem in the St. Lawrence.

Although it is primarily residential, Verdun is also home to the service sector businesses that employ most of the 15,000 people who work within its borders. The Île des Sœurs neighbourhood houses large industrial concerns such as Honeywell and Kodak.
