Geocache Description:

As Evil Cow Pie and I got close to this feature I was a bit preoccupied with some rock hopping so I was almost upon it when I gazed up and saw this. My reaction was to burst out laughing at the absurdity of this thing. Mayela Mingi, already there, turned and said “That was my reaction exactly!”

I really hesitated putting up this picture here because it just doesn’t prepare you for what this looks like in person. Note that Mayela Mingi’s quite capable nephew is a bit shy of half way up! Also note the size of the logs he’s standing near. There’s no way that any of us could see to go around this monster so it must be attacked head on. However, it proved to be quite doable in the end, one log at a time.

The Cache
The cache is a lock-and-lock box with log, pen and swag tucked inside a stump high above the creek. After negotiating the LJoD, head towards the left side of the creek. There you will find a blessed flat spot in this terrain. This is a great spot for lunch or a snack. This is GZ for the cache. See hints for more info.

Getting There
The best way to get this cache is hiking in from Olive Springs. Park near the Secret Trail Head: Olive Springs cache (GCXA7M) (Parking on the road is OK). After you pass the 4th creek crossing go about 75 to 100 feet up the fire road. On your left there will be a trail that will take you down to the creek. Alternately, you can hike up the creek at the 4th crossing.

Getting to this cache is difficult as there is no trail to the cache.

Safety suggestions
Bring plenty of water. Water is usually available in the creek to those with a water filter.
It can get hot here, don't let the temps on the coast fool you.
You WILL get your feet wet, wear water shoes.
Scrambling over log jams is required.
There is nettle here in the lower sections of the hike (like the rest of the park). It is sparse and easily avoided IF you know what to look for.Click here for a photo.

And finally...
Reception IS quite spotty here. It is HIGHLY recommended take the "hint" with you, just in case...

Thanks to iwikepie, who I shamelessly "borrowed" this name from...
And thanks to Evil Cow Pie for the photo!
