AMNHA: Arabia Mountain

Series: Arabia Mountain Adventures

Password: Located in the logbook

Cache Info: The cache is a medium sized plastic ammunition container located a short distance beyond the end of the trail and a little over a half mile from the parking lot.

The cache is located in Davidson-Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve. The Nature Preserve is along Klondike Road south of Lithonia in southeastern DeKalb County.

From the parking lot, take the Mountaintop Trail to the top of Arabia Mountain. The cache is located a short distance beyond the end of the trail and a little over a half mile from the parking lot. Be careful not to step on sensitive plants, such as diamorpha, moss, or lichen.

The photos show how the mountain looks in the spring and fall. Arabia Mountain is the central focus of the much larger nationally significant Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area. As you look at the photos, you can begin to appreciate the outstanding scenic and natural features of the mountain.

This nature preserve, like other Georgia woodlands, has ticks during all but the winter season. Take precautions that include wearing a hat, a long sleeve shirt, and long pants with legs tucked into socks. Wear light colored clothing for ease of spotting ticks, especially deer ticks that are the size of a pin head. Use bug spray with the chemical DEET and especially spray around the ankle area. Additional info for tick prevention measures.
