Geocache Description:

Cache is located in Parker-Sickles Farm Park, Little Silver, NJ.

Mars is the fourth planet in the solar system. It is named after the Ancient Roman god of War, Mars. Mars was based upon the Ancient Greek war god, Ares. Mars has two satellites, both believed to be captured asteroids. They are called Phobos (fear) and Deimos (panic). Phobos and Deimos were the sons of Ares and Aphrodite (Venus). Mars is also the outermost of the rocky, inner planets. Beyond lies the treacherous Asteroid Belt, and the outer gas giants and dwarf planets. Mars stands as a guard for the inner realm of the solar system.

Mars was a physical deity. He thrived on competition and athleticism. The cache's location reflects this, overlooking a popular park which contains several sports fields. Parking is available.

The cache is a small magnetic key box. Only room for the log inside of it's small ziploc bag. No room for a pen here, so please bring your own. As always, be stealthy and place the cache back as you found it so it remains safe from muggles. This one will prove challenging at certain times because of sporting events. Stealth is a necessity here. Mars will be angry if muggles conquer the cache!

Oh, and one last noteworthy bit of information. The symbol taped to the inside of the lid may come into play to help you find "Eris", the last (12th of 12) of the planet caches. Since many have not fared well, I have included a photo of all the symbols on the page for "Eris". Please reference it if the symbol has become damaged/missing in a few of the planets.

Enjoy!

UPDATE:: Some cachers have notified me the symbol has fallen off the lid...until I can come up with a better way to secure it there and replace it, I will post the symbol in the gallery on this cache page. Until the symbol is replaced in the cache, you may copy it for the future multi-stage puzzle cache from there. Thanks!
