There is a great overlook of the city skyline from this park on the edge of town.
If you go out to the park on a cloudy evening after sunset when the street lights have turned on you can lay on your back on a picnic table with your head dangling off upside down and look out at Lincoln’s skyline and you unfocus your eyes, the sky becomes the ocean and the street lights become the harbor. Buildings that blur the horizon become docks and piers.
Inside this cache, among other things, is a travel bug that we named Red after Morgan Freeman’s character in The Shawshank Redemtion. It’s mission is to make it to Zihuatanejo, Mx, where Andy escaped to and Red later joined. We dedicated it to our friend who is in the hospital for cancer treatments. She wanted to do a prison theme for her stay there. Who knows if that little bug will ever make it to Mexico, but maybe you can go find it and help it along.
