Anyone who has read my online logs knows that Hide & Seekers’
frequent caching companion is my “mostly” German Shepherd Zoe
(affectionately referred to as “Zoe-dog”).
Zoe and I found each other in 1995. I was single and living
alone, and she was “Free to good home, 1yr old female German
Shepherd.” Zoe was a junkyard guard dog, but her heart just wasn’t
in the job; she only wanted to love someone and be someone’s
special dog. When I met her, she was a true ugly duckling, scrawny
and dirty, but when she lay down on my feet and tried to roll on
her back, I knew that we needed each other. She went home with me
that weekend.
In 1999, Zoe and I went to live with the now Mr. H&S and his
family, Gretchen-dog, the Polish Shepherd and Shadow BC
(Shadow Black Cat). Like many blended families, we had our
troubles, especially with two alpha female dogs and a cat that
wasn’t afraid to add tooth and claw to any skirmish.
When Gretchen left us in 2003, she left an empty spot in our
hearts but a more peaceful household. Zoe and Shadow agreed to a
cautious truce although they tease each other daily.
Today Zoe loves to wear her bandanas, cuddle in bed, eat the
special smoked pig ears that her daddy buys from Jaworski’s Market,
and especially go for walks and hikes to hunt geocaches!
This cache is packed full of dog, and also cat, related items:
collar charms I made for both dogs and cats, doggie bandanas, a few
kitty toys, and several doggie rawhide chew items.
1. Please try to trade a dog or cat related item. I know
pet toys are expensive, but here’s a few suggestions: some of the
charms I used can be individually purchased at Hobby Lobby for as
little as 68¢, Hobby Lobby also had bandanas for as low as 89¢, and
Pet Supplies Plus in South Bend has several different dog rawhide
items for under $1. If you are unable to trade a pet item, I have
left an alternative at the bottom of the cache. Simply email me if
you choose this.
2. Shameless posting of pet photos is encouraged! We’d
love to see photos of your dog with the cache (not the actual
location though) or with a swag item. I’d like to include a cache
dog of the week photo on the listing page.
3. Blatant bragging is allowed! Please share your
favorite pet story – tell us about your geo-pup or stay-at-home
kitty!
We hope everyone enjoys this cache. Please replace the cache so
it is concealed. Happy hunting!
Evidently Zoe still finds a way to climb up on the couch despite
my attempts to block her. Here she is relaxing when I'm not at
home. She's even kicked off one of the socks put on her so she
doesn't lick her feet bald!
This is Saydie, a very pretty Spaniel, who Bremen Caveman says
would rather chase squirrels than find caches. We love her anyway!
Congrats to Breman Caveman for being our Second to Find!
