Geocache Description:



Time to get into in our canoes and/or kayaks and engage in some nature photography.

Hopefully Mother Nature will provide us with an opportunity to see some wildlife in the area, but if they are shy, then there may be wildflowers and certainly there will be plenty of insects upon which you can try your macro-photography skills.


  • Where? Meet at the posted co-ordinates which is the access point for Herb Lake.
  • When? Tuesday, July 13, 2010, on the water no later than 9 am.
  • What do you need? At a minimum, a canoe or a kayak, PFD for each person in your craft, plus paddles (bring an extra one in case one breaks) a bailer and rope to tie off your canoe/kayak when resting on shore, and a camera of course.


From Herb Lake, we will paddle south to Ernest Lake then west to Gun Lake. Plan for lunch (BYOL) at one of the islands at the south end of Gun Lake.




I estimate the length of our trip to be in the range of 14 km there and back. Not having done this trip before I don't know what the portages will be like so try to pack lightly. I have been in touch with others that have travelled upon these waters and they tell me that they thoroughly enjoyed their trip.
