Merit Badge Challenge - Canoeing Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

m&m i k: Made a trip over to the PE Woods today and found the attachment cable hanging out of the tree, but I had some tools and managed to spot the cache container down in the knothole and was able to grab it. Also found the container cap on the ground nearby. Unfortunately there are two rope swings right by the cache (that weren't there when it was placed) and I don't think any cache here would survive. I am therefore archiving this cache. Apologies to 76-CJ7 for not keeping Canoeing in his Merit Badge Challenge, but perhaps he can reinstate that merit badge and someone else might be more successful. Thanks for all the geocachers that found it and we'll be putting some others out in the future. M&M i K

Geocache Description:

Fairly well kept hiking trails behind the Philips Exeter Academy Athletic Fields along the Exeter River (which serves to fit the bill regarding the canoeing aspect of the Challenge).

Small container, well hidden. Starts off with some small swag - youth oriented. Also has my Bobcat pin circa early 1960's. Made it to Life before getting more interested in sports in high school. Can access this cache by parking near the Philips Exeter Athletic Fields and hiking about .9 miles one way --OR-- parking along Drinkwater Rd near the PEA sign (don't block gate) and hiking about .5 miles one way to the cache. It is right beside the river, but is protected from high water (about 5' up). I got about 13' accuracy. Post better if you get'em. FTF prize is an unactivated TB dogtag. Congrats to tpklmac on FTF!
