The Pocono Travel Bug Hotel @ Kettle Creek Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

stellarscapes: Unfortunately, it looks like this cache is gone. I went up there today with two other geocachers and we all searched for about 30 minutes. I searched the area where the cache was hidden and it was gone. Searched the surrounding area and no luck. It is with great disappointment that Ive decided to archive this cache. I'll notify the owners of the Travel Bug that the cache is missing.

Geocache Description:

The Pocono Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania is a year-round vacation destination. For all the geocachers visiting the area, there is now a year-round Travel Bug Hotel open for both visitors and locals to trade travel bugs and have a nice relaxing walk through the Pocono Mountain scenery. This cache is located in the Kettle Creek Wildlife Sanctuary, which is part of the Monroe County Environmental Education Center.

The hiking trails are open year round from dawn to dusk. The cache container is an ammo box. Please limit trade items to travel bugs only. If you don't have a travel bug to trade and there are at least 3 TBs in the cache, feel free to take one if you can help it on it's mission.

Distance from the parking area to the cache location is about 2/10 mile. The terrain of this cache is rated 3 stars due to the steep uphill climb on part of the trail. Hiking boots are recommended.

The cache is located on the Kettle Creek trail system on the north side of Running Valley Road. There is no hunting, camping, littering or pets allowed on the property and fishing is limited to handicapped individuals for catch and release purposes only

Directions to the Kettle Creek area: At the traffic light on Route 611 in Bartonsville (about 1 mile west of the travel center/truck stop/Rt 33 area), go south on Rimrock Drive. Bear right at the "Y" onto Easton-Belmont Pike, then right onto Running Valley Road.
Parking can be found on the right at the trailhead:
N 40° 59.341’ / W 075° 17.857’. It is a small gravel overflow parking area.
(Alternate parking can be found at the Environmental Education Center N 40° 59.340’ / W 075° 17.791’).
