This is a wonderful stone house that is the former residence of Marie Zimmermann, a famous artist. There also is an old farm with a house and and old barn, part of which is also made of stone. The house is a pleasant 1/2 mile walk along a NPS dirt road off of route 209. You would never know it was there. I stumbled upon it while hiking a woods road from the top of the mountain behind. It's a much shorter hike in from rt. 209! This is a nice site to visit in the spring as there are hundreds of daffodils blooming at that time. Since this is on NPS land, I had to make the cache virtual. Parking is at the gate (do not block!) at N41 14.779 W74 51.693. To take credit for this GC please answer the following questions.
1. What is the most distinct and unusual feature of the house?
2. What is the date carved in the stone at the stone barn at N41 15.296 W74 51.573?
After visting the house and barn, you can extend your hike by continuing to hike along the NPS road past the barn and by turning left at the next road junction and hiking up the mountain on the NPS horse/hiking trails.
