Forest Lawn had a funicular?

Yes, a house near here once had a private funicular for Hubert Eaton, the founder of Forest Lawn. In 1942 Eaton built the house on a parcel adjoining Forest Lawn. A room contained the lower station of the funicular. The tracks continued out through an opening in the house and extended uphill to a cable house. Eaton rode the funicular to the top of the hill where his chauffeur waited to drive him to his office near the front gate.

Internet research indicates that the cable car is gone, and the cable house has been sealed up in concrete. I'm not sure if the rails are still in place as nothing is visible from the street. Maybe the rails are now used to support the guardrail (Hint) at the coordinates given.

The funicular is/was located on private property. Do not trespass.

The Eaton House is in the upper center portion of this aerial photo. The small structure that housed the funicular winch is visible just outside the upper parking lot.

Nope, RavRobin and I looked everywhere for this one. In fact, we checked the hint, and it was a spoiler. So, we looked there again and still found nothing. BenH57, having found this one already, relaxed in his former car (he bought a Prius tonight! ) and enjoyed the A/C.

Foon and I looked all over for this one today, while Benh57 who had found it before waited in the air conditioned car. Sadly, even with the hint, we couldn't come up with what should have been a p & g.
