Geocache Description:

Prepare to get your feet wet for this CITO. Sullivan Run Creek runs through Alameda Park. 2 years ago Girl Scout troop 418 cleaned out the creek pulling out carpet squares, tile, basketball, etc. They couldn't do the water clean up part last year as it was too high for kids. Well, this year I'm doing this as a cito to hopefully clean out further downstream then what the kids can do. This project helps with flooding problems in Butler and also helps the little critters that live there. So-please bring waterproof knee waders (if you have them) in addition to the normal cito gear (work gloves, etc). This is also a park clean up so kids and cachers without waterproof boots can participate. There's playgrounds, shelters, fields, trails, etc. to clean.

We'll start at the lower level. Coords. are for the parking lot at Jaycee's Shelter. The date is Monday June 4, 2007 from 5pm to 8:30pm. Hotdogs provided asking for everyone else to bring the sides. The theme is just ducky. The first 50 participants will receive a rubber ducky, which depending on water level and time we may race for prizes.

There are two existing caches in the park. I'm hoping to add one more new perm. cache to be released during the event. The main purpose of the cito is to clean up the park and waterway. This is a high use area. Alameda Park offers various free events for family and individuals throughout the year esp. in the summer and fall months. You'd never believe they let the dogs swim in the pool and the kids fish in the pool!!

Come help clean up Alameda Park and make a difference for all that use the park. Thanks!!
