The year is 1867 and you are travelling from Los Angeles to San Buenaventura.

In the northwest corner of the San Fernando valley, the stage route is a steep trail cut into the mountain that is known as the devil's slide. It takes a team of four horses to drag the stagecoach up the slide. Coming down the slide is even more dangerous. Passengers generally get out and walk along this section of the road.

According to an ancient legend there is a secret treasure hidden in the Santa Susana pass. The Chumash and Tongva tribes that inhabited the land before the arrival of Spanish missionaries believe the animals guarded the secret. Only someone who could communicate with the animals could find the location of the treasure

To find this cache you will play the Wherigo cartridge "Stagecoach - Devil's Slide". It will take you on the old stage coach road to find the Secret of Santa Susana Pass.

WooHoo what a ride! We started this WherIGo several times and are happy and satisfied to finally complete it. I would rate this as at least a 3 or 4 in difficulty. Had to ask for a hint from the owner, but got the happy face in the end. Had to have the t-shirt. TFTW

Awesome view at the cache. What a journey the wagon ride up and down this stretch must have been! TFTC

This was a whole new way of doing the Devil's Slide and Santa Susana Pass. I loved it. MamaMia and I, along with our Belgian Malinois Pepper, had a load of fun and really enjoyed the historical aspects of the game, which really brought the history to life! So cool.
Thanks Marty. Happy caching!
PS - I just got my new Garmin Oregon 400t the other day and this was my (and MamaMia's) very first Wherigo!

Many many thanks to LaEd for loaning me his Oregon so we could complete this adventure!! Thanks, toz, for another complex cache to solve!
Fun, funny, entertaining, confusing, hot, uphill, educational - I hope more cachers make the effort to enjoy this experience, too! I do recommend leaving a car at the top, bringing extra water, bringing a camera, and having a life line handy.
Will there be more from the tozmeister?

Found this with EMC of Northridge and fOtOmOmm as we discovered the "Secret of Santa Susana Pass" today. There were a few glitches that we ran into today but with a little help from a previous finder and a lot of patients we were able to to complete the story.
