The hike up Towsley Canyon to the cache is very kid friendly. While
at the cache, be sure to check out "Gateway Cave", about 60 feet
south. Just beyond the cache, kids and adults will all enjoy the
dramatic walk through the narrow well shaded Towsley Canyon
Corridor.
Just past the corridor or "Narrows", the trail becomes steeper
and a series of well maintained switchbacks zigzag their way up to
the top of the southeast canyon wall. From there, the trail skirts
the ridgeline, passing by several absolutely gorgeous vista points
with sweeping views in every direction, before making a thrilling
decent into scenic Wiley Canyon and eventually emerging at the
Wiley Canyon trailhead, N 34° 21.426 W 118° 33.544.
I have hidden a camo'd ammo can within a few yards of the trail.
There is a 3.0 direct approach to the cache, however a more
kid friendly 2.0 approach can be found close by.
This cache has been stocked with a logbook, pen, pencil and
sharpener plus many nifty trade items geared toward kids of all
ages. Due to weak gps reception in the area, I have provided a
"spoiler" photo.
Many other caches are hidden along the Towsley/Wiley Canyon Loop
Trail.
Always use caution when reaching into dark
places.
Good luck &
Happy caching!
