A 3-part multi around harvard pond, part of the Harvard forest.
Park off rt. 122.
Since 1907 research and education have been the mission of the
Harvard Forest, one of the oldest and most intensively studied
forests in North America.
The Harvard Forest was named a National Science Foundation
Long-Term Ecological Research site in 1988. it became the
northeastern field site for the National Institute for Global
Environmental Change.
There are old roads and foundations through the area that are open
to hikers but closed to hunting and motorized vehicles. Follow the
trail around the pond. Don’t try crossing the pond at the
upper end as it's mainly swamp. The first 2 parts are in 1+1+4
plastic boxes. Cache is a round 4 by 12 round metal container
containing a log and the usual cache trinkets.

June 3, 2009 by Capt. Bob (2621 found) Very nice multi and a good hike. The bugs very bad, but luckily I had a head net and long sleeve shirt otherwise it would have been a long hike. Final container is a little dented but still okay. Finished the circuit around the lake. TNLN Thanks.

February 28, 2009 by Freddie's Pack (317 found) We were looking for a nice long walk on a sunny 28 degree Saturday morning and were drawn to this one after reading the splendid log write up from the3gmen. This turned out to be one of the best caches yet. The scenery was magnificent on this snow covered day and the dogs were ready to romp in the snow. We found the first cache fairly easy and moved on to the second one. After figuring out the right place to look we found this one even in the deep snow. Moving on to the third and final cache, pack leader found this one and we celebrated with a drink of water for the alpha dog and some dog treats for the dogs. Then we basked in the sun for a while before returning to the parking area. We signed the log book, dropped off a red jeep travel bug and picked up the Retez the tree frog travel bug TFTC

February 16, 2009 by the3gmen (358 found) I wanted to get some fresh air today and didn't want to just do the quick drive by caches so this one caught my eye. After the recent warm weather, the trails were packed pretty well and hiking boots worked just fine. (well maybe a little tough at waypoint #2 but not too bad) I was tempted to take the direct route from wp2 to the final (over the ice) but I decided to stick to the trails since I was hiking alone. Any yes the whole cache can be done with very little bushwacking. Once I grabbed the final, I sat down in a snow free spot and soaked up the sun as I signed the log and checked out the treasure. I ended up taking a marble and leaving a very loud whistle. I was going to grab the travel bug but since I wouldn't be able to help him along on his journey right away, I decided to leave it for someone who could. I hope to come back again in warmer weather to see what the area is like then. Thank You for giving me a nice hike and a good amount of fresh air on this president's day. the3Gmen -208- p.s. I would like to thank the cache owner for creating a truly "Winter Friendly" cache. This one would easily findable with 3 feet of snow on the ground. Hiking the trails might be an issue, but rest assured, once you got to the coordinates, you won't have to guess and dig to put your hands on the containers.
