DEUTSCH:
2. Man
kann hier noch eine andere Basaltverwitterung finden. Wie heißt sie
und wie entsteht sie?

_______________
ENGLISH:
This bell-shaped mountain is
made of rocks from the Early Triassic and Muschelkalk. They are
more than 200 million years old. Volcanic pipes broke through the
layers 20 million years ago and the basalt gushed over the old
landscape. The basalt protected the sedimentary rock from erosion.
It´s now the top of the mountain. When it cooled down, the basalt
seperated mostly to hexagon-shaped columns. You can see them at the
fault on the summit and on the old quarry on the north side. By
weathering, specially in the ice age, the many columns fell into
pieces and became a stone run. You can still see the stone runs.
The basalt also got through the salt dome 300 metres below the
crust. The miners often find dikes made of basalt. Sometimes they
find volcanic pipes too.
To
log:
1.
Search for the hexagon-shaped columns and make a picture of you or
your GPSr with the columns in the background.
2. You
can find here another type of weathering of the basalt. How is it
called? How resulted this type of weathering?
