Cache is an ammo can located in some woods in Shaftsbury, VT. Begins with an obvious trail which ends... and then you're on your own. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE: hide it just as well as you find it! :)
Happy 2nd Birthday, NancyCz-3! Two years ago I was house-sitting when I received a ready-made cache as a gift. Ah, back in the day when GeoCaching was new and exciting! (Nah, it still is!) Across from where I house-sit are some awesome woods with great cliffs and other things to explore. As we were walking I spotted this cool looking little orange salamander (will post pics). We brought it back to the house and made a home for it. Today I decided to go back up there and scout some more. On the way to finding the spot for this cache we spotted 122 (!) of the little guys.
The trail starts at the side of a road in Shaftsbury, VT (12 miles North of Bennington on Historic 7A or Rte. 7). It is an obvious trail at first, however it stops being a trail. The walk isn't bad at all... not too steep, not too overgrown.
If it's been raining be EXTRA careful -- it gets slippery. Please no angry emails about how you slipped... I'm warning you in advance. Nothing to worry about, the ground has a nice layer of leaves, but you'll probably get messy. Just be careful and you'll be fine.
While in the woods, you might run into the GeoDog's new friend, Micky -- a big black dog with white feet -- he's friendly, don't worry. He might come by and say hi -- he lives in a neighboring house.
**Note: 2 June, 04 -- Unfortunately, you won't be running into Micky anymore. :(
**Note: 11 July, '5 -- Unfortunately, you won't be runnning into Max anymore, either. But you may get to meet Lola. She's loud, but harmless.
