Geocache Description:

It's that time again, for the annual meet and greet Christmas gathering.

NEW LOCATION!!

SHALIMAR DINER – FRIDAY December 28 – 7:30 pm till 10 ish

Merry Christmas!! Happy New Year!!

But what do you do on the in-between-weekend? Party with your Geocaching friends, that's what.

Queensites do more business 'at the diner' after the meeting than at the meeting itself. An important question asked at many a meeting (school board, scout meeting, church choir, etc) "Are we going DINERING tonight?" and the answer is usually "Yes". So why not geocachers?

New Location this year.

SHALIMAR DINER -- 63-68 Austin Street Rego Park NY 11374
(Corner of 63rd Drive and Austin Street)

Subway: R or V to 63rd Drive. (On Queens bound trains, take the back of the train) Walk southwest on 63rd Drive 4 short blocks. (if you're on the side of Queens Blvd with the Sears, you're on the wrong side)

Bus: Q38 stops outside and the Q59 & Q60 stop on Queens Blvd.

Car: There is a parking lot.

Long Island Expressway.
From the EAST--exit 20 --Junction Blvd. Left on Junction to Queens Blvd. Left on Queens Blvd to 63rd Drive. Turn Right...4 blocks.

From the WEST--Exit 19 Woodhaven Blvd/Queens Blvd East. Take Queens Blvd to 63rd Drive. Turn right. Four blocks.

So tonight we will "diner." Don't expect a lot of hoopla. It's real informal. We will be there at 7:30-left side, in the back. A meet and greet is lots of people scattered around talking to people they don't know. There may even be discussions about the new Lower Hudson Geocaching Association now forming.

For new people, this is a great chance to find out who those
strange and exotic geocaching names belong to. Feel free to get up and walk around and introduce yourself. Some people come late, some leave early. Some cache prior, some cache later, some don't cache at all. There will be great esoteric discussions on the most difficult finds ever, and lots of small talk about DNF's.

Have a great time, but remember, the restaurant is happy to see us but not if we tie up 7-8 tables and not order anything. So, we sit around for 2-3 hours, have dinner, or desert. Please bring small bills so we don't drive the wait staff crazy with individual checks.

Bring your geocoins, your travel bugs and your stories. Some people bring entire coin collections for you to discover. And best of all, it's an easy smiley face. And as my holiday tradition, I will have some geocoins as a door prize. If anyone else would like to add some to the pot, you are welcome to do so.

See you all soon....John
