How Geocaching Works
For this cache, you are searching for a large, silver painted ammo can. This cache is along the Red Cedar Trail, just south of Irvington. In an effort to recognize those who pass a major milestone, many areas have a tradition of placing milestone caches once a geocacher reaches 1000 finds. While caching in Illinois we ran into several of these and thought it was a good idea, hence the idea of moving that tradition here.
This cache is located near the Red Cedar Trail, less than 2/10 of a mile from one of the first geocaches that Bobcat placed, a cache called "I Was Framed," that is now archived. So, I have placed this cache nearby to honor the contributions of Bobcat to geocaching in this area.
The El Bastardo side of Bobcat needed to be remembered too. The duality of the El Bastardo/Bobcat hides is reflected in the placement of this cache. If you approach the cache from the bike trail it is an El Bastardo type cache. If you approach it from the road, it is a Bobcat type cache.
SPECIAL LOGGING REQUEST: when logging this find, please mention in your log which of Bobcat's 188 hides (to date) is the most memorable for you. Thanks.
