Near Runaround Pond Recreation Area. Original Old Chandler Mill cache was muggled therefore it has been relocated to the other side. Trail starts immediately after the crossing aka bridge, climb over guard rail, go down the rock drain, follow trail near the water to the cache.
In 1777, the first sawmill was built at Runaround Pond by Judah Chandler. A second sawmill was built in 1797. The present mill site was built by a “Richardson” of Brunswick.
Located in Durham Maine, the Runaround Pond area contains parking for a limited number of vehicles and provides a place to launch small water craft. It is owned by the State and leased to the Town. It is used for boating, swimming, fishing, ice skating and picnicking.
The cache is well hidden, making up for the rather short walk along the top of a scenic gorge.
