A small micro under the crossed muskets of the Infantry, within view of the sign that shows our unit leadership. Cache is outside the fenced compound, with easy parking on a dead end street. This cache was a joint effort of the three fulltime support soldiers that work here at the Coos Bay Armory. ARC83 donated the materials, Musketmann did the work, and finder6784 will be maintaining it (as Musketmann and ARC83 will be retiring soon).
Coos Bay has a long military history. A National Guard unit (originally Coast Artillery) has been in the area since before World War II. More recent “flags” have included Anti-Aircraft Artillery, Engineers, Anti-Armor, Infantry, and various Support units. Soldiers from these units have served across the Globe, both for training and in combat. Recent deployments include Operation Iraqi Freedom (twice including the current), Operation Enduring Freedom/Afghanistan, Hurricane Katrina, Japan (twice), Jamaica, Germany, and England. The current Armory was built in 1976, and is the home of Bravo Company (-), 1-186 Infantry, and Detachment 1, Fox Company, 141 Brigade Support Battalion.
Congrats to Family Explorer on FTF!
