choice of which FTF prize they want to take.
You might remember the name of George Caceras from
another nearby multicache
(
GCZPEC). George Caceras was a courageous young rookie
with the OPP. He disappeared in the line of duty in September 1966
while trying to rescue a child who had apparently fallen down a
shaft. George's body was never found, however his head was.
George's head was found in the cave that you need to enter to find
Stage 1.
From where you parked your car along Fallbrook Trail, follow the
main Bruce Trail (white blazes) to the posted coordinates which
will take you to a ladder on the edge of the Niagara Escarpment.
This is the starting point of this multicache. There is nothing
here to find, but you will need to go down the ladder in order to
get to the first stage which is in the cave located at (N43º
41.690 W79º 57.884). To get to the cave, go down the ladder (or
go down through the tunnel) and follow the escarpment wall for
about 40m to the cave entrance.
Enter the cave. It's a tight squeeze, but once you are in, there
is more than enough room for several people to stand up
comfortably. There is also an entrance on the other side of the
cave too. Use your flashlight to look for an object that could be
associated to George Caceras. Once you find this object, remove it
from it's hiding spot and look for the numeric code underneath. Put
the object back where you found it. Make sure it fits snuggly in
place. While you are in the cave, have a look at the cave wall.
Something is not natural about it. It just ain't right. There is
apparently an entire cave system behind the wall here. You might
even find some very faded blood stains. If you have a black light,
use that and look closely.
To find the final, take the numeric code that you found under
the object in the cave and add it to both the North and West of the
following meaningless coords:
N43º 41.613 W79º 57.810
Exit the cave, go back up the ladder and follow the main Bruce
Trail back to where it intersects with the Irwin Quarry Side Trail
on your left. Follow the Irwin Quarry Side Trail (blue blazes) to
the cache location. Cache is an ammo box about 5m from the trail in
a pile of large rocks.
Alternate to the Cave. If you are too scared or too
weight-challenged to go into the cave, you can complete this cache
by finding Sam's plaque at N43º 41.717 W79º 57.883, which is a
couple of meters away from the bottom of the ladder. To figure out
the numeric code, Take the first number found on the plaque,
multiply it by 10 and add how many times Sam appears on the
plaque.
As with the stage in the Cave, add the numeric code that you just
calculated to the following meaningless coords:
N43º 41.613 W79º 57.810
In order to find the final of the BFL
Boot Camp III series of caches, make sure you record the 2-digit
numeric code which you can find written on the inside of the lid of
the ammo box and also on the inside cover of the log
book.
