Geocache Description:

You must listen, my students. It is not I, mutato nomine, who has placed this cache. There is another amongst you with dark intent.

My powers wane. This time I cannot delete his page or take ownership of it; but I can wrest control of part of it. Heed my warning: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FIND THIS CACHE.

Graviora manent.

There is much that you do not know. You see a world in danger: hurricanes lay waste the land; famine, wars and pestilence sweep the planet; mankind brings death and destruction upon itself: the Earth approaches the End of Days.

Who has caused this? Why, in the face of such evidence, does no government take action to save the planet and human civilisation? Global warming will destroy you; the air is thick with pollution; the interglacial period in which you live is coming to an end and Europe will be covered by an ice-sheet a mile thick. A death of heat and ice awaits you… or worse: IMPERIUM.cache is in 4 parts and covers at least 2 miles from car park to car park in Marbury Country Park. However, be prepared for it to take a while to find all of the parts! There is a parking fee of £1 for 3 hours and £1.50 all day for the car park, which is located at the coordinates at the top of the listing. The main carpark is open from 9am until 8pm from April to September and until 5pm the rest of the year. There are other parking spaces just outside the barriers which can be used at all times. Some of the stages are near water. Please take care, especially if children are with you. There is no need to go in the water at any point! Also, please do not untie any knots at any of the stages- it is not necessary to do so.

Inside each cache you will find not only the coordinates for the subsequent stage, but also which numbered hint to use. You will notice that there are more hints than stages, as not all the hints are used. The first hint to use is number 1.

Nice Niche
On 21st March, 2008, I made this stage easier by removing the puzzle you previously had to do at home. See how kind I am. The cache is a black geocaching small metal micro container at the coordinates of the cache listing. Inside the container you will find the coordinates forYou are betrayed. Yet no-one acts, because the people who rule you do not sit in London, Brussels or even Washington. The true masters of your fate use the puppet governments that you elect to do their bidding.

Your masters are IMPERIUM.

For centuries, IMPERIUM has controlled a subterranean city far beneath the Atlantic. They live in luxury there as they suck the Earth dry. All the ills of the world are caused by them; and as the Earth cries out on the cusp of the apocalypse, they take more: safe in their infernal world. If you could see what I have seen you would not doubt me; there are things in that place beyond your dreams and others you have only seen in nightmares.

In the holy text it is written: “And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns”. I have seen that beast; I have seen the seven rulers and the ten armies of IMPERIUM.the second stage:

Box of Tricks
The cache is a box hidden inside an ammo box . You must work out how to open the box to get the coordinates for “The Invisible Cache” and take something that you will need to openBut The Beast needs fuel to sustain its greed; a constant supply of people to do its bidding. It takes them from the surface and works them as slaves, with no hope and no future but to serve IMPERIUM.

It seeks the strong and the intelligent and it has devious ways to select its targets. The tales are many, but I give you one: in 1980 a book was published called Masquerade. It contained a complex puzzle, whose solution led to a golden hare buried in a field. For two years, thousands of people tried to find the hare, before a man named Ken Thomas succeeded. If you try to find Ken Thomas today, you will fail. IMPERIUM disseminated disinformation that “Ken Thomas” was a pseudonym for a man called Dugald Thompson. And even as they act out their evil deeds they laugh at mankind: Dugald Thompson is an anagram of “Lop dud ghost man”. But for Ken Thomas there is no laughter: they came for him like thieves in the night and today he lives in a sunless world, a servant of IMPERIUM.

And the abductions do not stop with humans. They seek the best of the animal world, too. Shergar was the stallion that represented the pinnacle of equine grace. In February 1983, he was abducted by IMPERIUM from a stud in County Kildare. Until his death in 1989, he lived a desperate life, racing for the pleasure of a beings without compassion, a thousand fathoms beneath the sea.

Now, as the World nears the End of Days, they have become more selective. The challenges they face demand a new type of person. They seek the fittest and the most intelligent of the surface dwellers.that cache. Please make sure that everything is put back inside the box and it is reassembled correctly when you have finished.

The Invisible Cache
The coordinates for this stage were amended on 25.10.06. The cache is a box inside a plastic container in a camo bag. Inside you will find the coordinates for the last stage.

I have no idea what isAnd now I speak directly to you, members of the geocaching community. You sit at your computer, in the cross hairs of their sights. They have studied genetic databases that show that geocachers are the forerunners of a new breed of homo sapiens: a super race. And this makes them both afraid and excited. They fear that the surface dwellers will be led in resistance by this new people… but they also crave you for their slaves.

Now, within your ranks, they seek the best of the best. They will place puzzle caches across the World and those that succeed in finding them will be taken to a place where no satellite signal can penetrate…

A geocacher amongst you is IMPERIUM. He is part of the multi-headed beast. Resist him! Do not let the ancient prophecies come true! YOU MUST NOT ATTEMPT THIS CACHE. If you find it, all hope will be gone. Listen for the creak of the floorboard; watch out for the figure in the shadows; fear the icy fingers on your back. It may be in a day, a month or a year, but one day they will surely come for you; one day you will know IMPERIUM.

I confess: all this is known to me because I was IMPERIUM. Before my sight was lost in that Mycenean Labyrinth , I craved power above my own existence. Now I have held the jyotirmaya I have known power beyond comprehension and I must repent. I give it up… and with it my life.

That which I have foreseen since that day in Mycenae comes to pass. I am tired. The undiscover’d country awaits me. Goodbye, my faithful students.

And as sleep comes, fear does also. I can no longer see the future... The power has left me… I hear the door open… It is finished and the prophesy is fulfilled... I can sense that it's not him, but a woman... and, although I am blind, I know that upon her forehead is a name written, MYSTERY, BAgoing on with this listing. I’ve had a word with the powers that be at geocaching.com, but it’s a type of hacking they’ve not encountered before and they can’t delete it and I can’t seem to edit the whole text. At least this time he has been unable to remove the entire page.

I don’t need to tell you that Mr Nomine’s allegations are complete nonsense, of course. He is clearly a very disturbed person, possibly schizophrenic with paranoid delusions. Please do not be concerned about doing this cache. There is absolutely nothing to worry about.

So, back to the last stage:

The Deep
The cache is in a small black box.

I hope you enjoy this cache and that Mr Nomine’s mad ramblings don’t put you off. To me geocaching is about getting out, having fun and especially meeting new people. Enjoy! I’m sure we’ll meet up before long :).
