This path takes you past ancient prehistoric earthworks and, in the
spring, great wildflowers
Fort Ancient features 18,000 feet of earthen walls built 2,000
years ago by people of the Hopewell Culture who used the shoulder
blades of deer, split elk antler, clam shell hoes and digging
sticks to dig the dirt. YOu'll pass these ancient works, please be
respectful and not walk on the earthworks.
There is a site admission fee (If you want, you can pay
admission to just the park, not the museum). Daytime hours
only.
