Spring Time Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

archaeor: I've archived this cache due to poor placement of the cache on my part. The cache has been removed, and the items will be placed in a new cache at a (hopefully) better location. Thanks for understanding.

Geocache Description:

Located at a concrete, circular, contained natural spring, a little muddy in the winter, easy terrain, altitude 620 ft. +/- AMSL. Watch out for 'cow pies'!!

This cache is located near a little known trailhead into Mission Peak Preserve, and the trail can get you to the top of Mission Peak. Just a few 100 feet up the trail will give you good views of the S.F. Bay area from San Jose to San Francisco (on a clear day) without much climb. In this area I've seen Bobcat, Wild Turkeys, Golden Eagles, Mountain Lion tracks, Quail, etc. It's also a bird-watchers paradise.

Don't mind the gate (with the cattle-guard), this is a public right-of-way to the trailhead. If the gate is locked, there's an opening in the fence directly to the left of the gate. Just bend down and go through. It's best to park down on Mission Boulevard and walk up, but do not park past the gate if it's open or you may get locked in. Also, parking on the Ohlone College campus without a permit results in a ticket.

***As noted below in the log by thebigdp, do not park in front of the gate (I'd hate to be responsible for somebody's parking ticket).

The road looks like it goes to a private residence, but the building is actually my business Office and Lab facilities which belong to Ohlone College. Cache consists of a small, clear Rubbermaid. Contents include: two small, cute, yellow fuzzy chicks; a brand new 100mb Zip disk (IBM formatted); and, a Coalition of Sheriff and Police Officers supporter decal (stick it on the rear window of your car for extra luck the next time you get pulled over . . . NOT!).
