Park in small parking lot just east of cache. Don't park on busy Hwy 33.
Portage's motto has always been "Where the north begins" and we agree it is a fitting motto. Portage is named for the portage that indians and explorers used to do to get from the southbound Wisconsin River to the northbound flowing Fox River. The old canal that goes between the rivers is under going a $4 Million renovation and is providing some free entertainment for all of the sidewalk supervisors.
It is not necessary to get into the pretty landscaping to find the cache.
