"Oh, the humanity !!"
In the horror of the moment, Herb Morrison, radio reporter for
station WLS, can be forgiven for not noticing the covey of Al
Quacka ducks on that fateful night in May 1937 at Lakehurst Naval
Air Station, New Jersey. The mystery of why the Hindenburg exploded
has long lingered. Only now has Yermamma been Maudlin chosen to
reveal what really happened - that as the Hindenberg was in the
process of mooring, it was downed by
Al Quacka Sleeper Cell members using an early crude shoulder
launched duck anti-dirigible (DAD) weapon.
The Hindenburg was a huge airship displacing over two hundred
tons and was over 800 feet long. Prior to the explosion it had
completed ten previous round trips across the Atlantic. It was
operated by the Nazi Ministry of Propaganda (a huge swastika was
painted on its tail). When the Hindenburg exploded, it was in the
process of completing its twenty-first trans-Atlantic flight and
had 36 passengers and 61 crew on board. There were 62
survivors.
Long forgotten are several replica mooring towers in the
Traverse City area. The cache is located near one of them.Finders
are to exchange only genuine Hindenburg artifacts (of course,
again, who is really going to know?!).
The cache can be reached from Bunker Hill Road and probably
other access points as well. One option would be to travel west
(rightward) on the two track from the intersection at N 44 44.180,
W 085 26.197 (just off of Bunker Hill Rd). In general, stay on two
tracks and utility right of ways as bushwhacking may lead you onto
private land.
