This is a virtual cache marking the spot of the granite monument on top of Black Mesa and the highest point in Oklahoma. If you close your eyes and let your imagenation wander back millions of years, you might be able to hear the dinosaurs that once walked around the area.
If it is a clear day you can see Capulin Volcano about 40 or 50 miles to the southwest, in New Mexico.
Make sure you have plenty of time before sundown, because this hike is a round trip of 8.4 miles and will take a good 4 hours to complete.
There is a log book at the base of the monument that we did not leave. But sign it anyway and leave your mark on the place.
