Geocache Description:

At one of the most beautiful spots on Hood Canal; stop by here and marvel at the view of the Olympics above this waterway. Thunderbird tracks are bronze tracks about 24 inches by 15 inches, placed by Kitsap County in 1992 to teach the water cycle as a game. Each track represents an aspect of the cycle, and was placed on public land throughout the county. This one is at Scenic Beach State Park.

Did you know that clouds look white because the tiny water droplets they are made of reflect light?

That they are made of billions of tiny water droplets gathered together?

That “cumulus’ is a Latin word that means ‘to gather together’?

That cumulus clouds are fair weather clouds?

That wispy, thin, cirrus clouds got their name from the Latin word that means ‘curl? Cirrus clouds mean the weather will probably change.

That ‘stratus’ clouds mean change is on the way?
That fog is just a cloud snoozing on the ground?

And did you know that if a cloud is seeded with silver iodide to act as condensation nuclei, it can cause rain? As water vapor rising in the air encounters dust or other particles in the air (condensation nuclei), these droplets gather until they are heavy enough to fall as rain.

Cirrus clouds are found at 7 miles high, Cumulus at 4 miles, and cumulonimbus (rain clouds) at only 2 miles.

Well, now that you know all this, enjoy this park; bring a picnic, or a boat. Stay for an hour, or a week- the campground is great. Please enjoy the track- it is in good shape at N47*39.026 W122*50.700. You will have to walk past it to find the cache! Do NOT go beyond the fence.
