Geocache Description:

Date 8-16-2003

It's time for a geocache picnic!.

This event is for new and experienced geocachers. If you just want to find out more about the game, come on and join us. Please log your intent to come as a note so we can be sure to have enough food and drinks on hand for the event!

I,ve been geocaching and enjoying it for over a year now and have attended several events hosted by others, so I'll give a try at hosting an event now.

The event is at Cedarock Park located 6 miles south of I-85/40 (exit 145), just off of Highway 49. The park is open from 8:00 AM to dusk.

There are 2 caches already in place at this park and I will be placing 2 more for this event, 1 will be a fairly easy 2 part multi that will be a 4 part multi after the event, the other will be a log only micro. I have placed a more challenging multi cache that is not a part of the event, but it will not be made available until the day of the event. There are several other caches in the Burlington area that you may or may not have found.

The park has a tent camping area, for FREE that is a short ways from the parking area for any one interested. My grandson and I will be camping in the park Fri. & Sat. nights the week of the event. Camping is 1st come 1st serve, but that is no problem, there is always empty sites, in fact hardly ever more than a couple of sites are in use. I'll be going to the park around 10:00 on Fri. and will get sites for every 1 that says they want 1. There is no electricity, running water, or showers, there are rest rooms with running water about 1000 -1500 feet from the camp sites. These sites are close to the parking area guessing about 3000 feet. I've got gas lanterns enough to light up all the area our group will want. There are fire rings for us to have fires in and plenty of fallen trees from the ice storms.

There will be a hot dog hamburger cookout after the multi-cache hunt. I have reserved a picnic shelter From 12 noon until dark. The above coords. are for the shelter. There will be no charge for any part of the event. The event starts at 3:00 pm & we will eat around 6:00. I'll be at the shelter from noon until after we eat. 2-Way radios will be monitored on channel 2 (in case you get lost, or need help - with a cache, or emergency).

Please bring a small item for a cache, which we will assemble at the event and award as a prize. I will furnish a container and log book, and no it will not be a water cooler.

This event is open to ANYONE - visitors, first-timers,and old-timers Please be sure to post a note so that we can get a good count (children are welcome, but please include them in the count).

Come one come all!
