“INDIANA SPIRIT QUEST”

The Indiana Spirit Quest series of geocaches will take you to a number of historic cemeteries built by Hoosier Pioneers. In just a year and a half, the quest has grown to over three hundred caches hidden in twenty-seven Indiana counties, and two Ohio counties, and the hiders have grown to twelve cacher teams, most of which of which are comprised of Dogs and their Humans. Over 600 cacher teams have logged over 7,000 finds.

INDIANA SPIRIT QUEST #331

"Job Hamblen Cemetery"

Job Hamblen was the first settler to the NE portion of Brown County and this cemetery and marker indicate the location of the first residence here. Job Hamblin also served in the Revolutionary War.

Job Hamblen established his residence 145 yds. east, 15 yds. north of this marker in 1825. Job Hamblen and his family were the first settlers to this area and Hamblen Township bears his name. He served in the Revolutionary War 1779-1782. Capt. John Tabb's Co., Col Dabney's Va. Militia. Participated in seige and surrender of British Army, Yorktown, Va., Oct. 19, 1781.

At the lower left corner of the marker is "JOB" and and arrow pointing to his military stone which marked the head of his grave. At the lower right corner is "ELEANOR" and an arrow pointing to the uninscribed fieldstone which marks the head of the grave of Eleanor Mullings Hamblen.

The cache container is 35 mm film canister containing only a log book. BYOP. .The cache is not located near a grave... If you find a fallen US flag, please stick it back in the ground. As always, please be respectful, and cache in, trash out.
