Geocache Description:

Easy access to flat park-LIKE area.

From where you stand at the cache site, you can look east at a tallish tree in the corner of a lot with a blue house. This one is on the list of Significant Trees list maintained by the Grants Pass Urban Tree Advisory Committee (visit link) . This is a fine example of an adolescent Giant Sequoia. The Giant Sequoia is the world's largest tree in terms of total volume. They grow to an average height of 150-280 feet with a diameter of 16-23 feet. Record trees have been reported to be 307 feet in height and 29 feet in diameter. The oldest known Giant Sequoia (based on ring count) is approximately 3,200 years old. So, this one might even be considered a child. You will need to bring your own writing instrument for the log. Cache is only large enough for small items such a quarter, digital fish from www.geofish.com, etc. Stealth may be required depending on time of day as there can be quite a bit of traffic related muggle activity because they need to stop and look out for each other.
