Geocache Description:

This is a multicache starting from the attractive village of Stoneleigh, with a round trip of about 2 miles. The coordinates are for a suitable parking location in Vicarage Road, near to the village club.

Stoneleigh had a pub in the 19th century, but it was closed by Lord Leigh after his daughter had been whistled at by ‘lads who had cycled out from Coventry’. It wouldn't happen now, they would drive! Other points of interest are a Norman church, 17th century alms-houses and a smithy on the village green. Near Stoneleigh is the confluence of the Rivers Avon and Sowe. Close to this is the 12th century Stoneleigh Abbey estate, which includes the National Agricultural Centre.

There are three parts to this multicache, a virtual, a micro and a small. NOTE - micro has moved from original location. Thanks to Pete3 for pointing out an error, which has now been corrected. Also, the final has been downgraded to a small container.

1. Go to N 52 21.014 W 001 31.164 – Footpath to Church a/b mile.
2. Following path, locate micro-cache (film canister) at N 52 20.6(b/2)7 W 001 31.(a-1)1a.
3. Coordinates to small cache found in micro-cache. Afterwards, retrace your steps, admiring the bridge, to return to start.

This is the first multicache to be created by ‘A Coventry Way Association’. The association was originally formed to promote a long distance footpath, A Coventry Way, and to support local authorities in the path’s maintenance. Our primary aim was to encourage people to discover and use the local countryside. A book of 21 Circular Walks was produced, broadly based on the main walk. Our plan is to set out a series of caches, located on or near each of the 21 walks. See ‘www.acoventryway.org.uk’ for further information.

The cache is a .3 litre click and click box, containing a few goodies. The route takes in part of walk 6, and if you keep to this walk, you can also pick up another cache, Lord Leigh.
