This cache has been archived.

GuentherGal:
Given the recent DNF's, I stopped by today to check on this one and sure enough, it was missing. Old Glory has had a nice run here. Thanks to all who visited!

Geocache Description:

Old Glory is a common nickname for the flag of the United States, named by William Driver, an early nineteenth century American sea captain. The flag has been changed twenty-six times over the years, since the thirteen-state union adopted it in 1776 to our current fifty-star version chosen in1960.

Recently NewfChick and I were out to do bikehammer’s new hide “I Dare Ya.” Afterwards, we drove over here to check out the views of the Daretown Lake. Guess what we found!

This lovely location is known for many things. It is a favorite spot for roosting Great Blue Heron, which can be seen catching fish in the lake. Fishermen will find a variety of fish including largemouth bass, bluegill and yellow perch here.

Make sure and grab Mike’s hide and explore Fox’s Mill as well. Follow the trail from the parking lot along the lake’s spill-over and continue along the freshwater stream. This habitat has been the locale for sightings of Hairy, Downy and Red-bellied Woodpeckers. Great Horned and Screech Owls may be heard calling in the evening. Skunks, raccoons, deer, fox and rabbits frequent the area as well.

This area is open daily from dawn to dusk with a small parking lot at the Old Mill or pull off the road parking closer to the lake.

You are seeking a blue bison tube. There is no need to mess with any landscaping or shrubbery to find this cache. It is within 3 feet of “O say can you see…” Long may she wave!
