melonknee62: So, apparently I should go ahead and archive this and will deal with the trackables by marking them Missing. Sorry I left this active for so long. Didn't mean to "bug" anyone. :(

Geocache Description:

DATE:  Sunday, August 30, 2015

TIME:  2 - 4:30 pm

WHERE:  Bicentennial Park off HWY 225 near Stockton, AL

A raffle is to be included at this event.  A $1.00 donation is required for each raffle ticket.  Approximately 30 prizes have been gathered for this event.  New geocaches have also been placed in the vicinity.

This is the second event in Foley Public Library's Geocaching Events Weekend.  This event is at a fairly new park, Bicentennial Park, near Stockton, AL, in Baldwin County.  This park was created under the supervision of the prior Director of Archives for the county, John Jackson.  Mr. Jackson is now the Director of the Foley Public Library and he was kind enough to show me this park a few months back.  I told him we just had to have a geocaching event here!

Bicentennial Park was created to show some of the history of Baldwin County.  It has replicas of Native American huts, a Trading Post, and a working Blacksmith's Shop.  It also has the actual building that once housed a General Store and another historical building that was once the Montpelier Methodist Church.  This park also has a memorial trail in honor of Davida Hasties, a very knoweldgeable historian of the Baldwin County area.  There are even crops planted on the premises that were crops once planted (and some are still planted) in Baldwin County.  There is also a section of the park dedicated to war memorials.  This is a park full of information on Baldwin County and its history.  I just felt it was pleading to be shared with the Geocaching Community.

Please join us for some geocaching fun and a raffle!  We will allow geocachers to gather for approximately 30 minutes before we begin the raffle @ 2:30 pm.  Snacks and water will be provided courtesy of the Foley Public Library.  A list of geocaches in the area will also be given out.
