Geocache Description:

Join Bud Flout, world famous certified Bigfoot expert and the leading Bigfoot Expedition guide, to become the World's Greatest Bigfoot Tracker.™

Throughout the world, Bigfoot has been called by different names. The Yeti of Tibet is said to be distantly related to it. It is known as Sasquatch in the Northwest. The Squamish people have stories about its origin. The Hoopa called it Oh Mah (or u’mah, signifying a hair-covered boss of the mountains). The Yokuts knew about the Hairy Man. It has been depicted on pictographs, recounted in legends of Native People, and has become part of the lore of the wild.

Reports by white settlers date from the 1800s - a trapper in 1811 found 14 inch tracks, which the Native People said was a "mammoth" rather than a bear; Daniel Boone claimed to have shot a ten foot hairy giant; Teddy Roosevelt recounted Bigfoot in one of his books -- but the sightings took on new importance in the past 50 years after large footprints were found in Humboldt County and a film was taken showing a female bigfoot in the woods. Although some of the Bigfoot sightings have been hoaxes, others are from reliable sources and cannot easily be discounted.

Bud Flout is the author of The Bud Flout Method for Spotting Cryptids. Bud knows the ways of Bigfoot, having studied the creature even before it was popular. He recently recounted his amazing experiences in the cable television documentary At Home With Bigfoot. Now, with reports of Bigfoot in Marin, Bud will take you along on his most thrilling adventure yet. He will guide you around 3 miles (one way) into the Tamalpais watershed. During your hike you will learn a lot more about Bigfoot; collect evidence; look for Bigfoot's tracks; and use your geocaching skills to follow the elusive creature.

Bud Flout Expeditions believes in responsible hiking. If you seek Bigfoot when the trails are wet and muddy, please be sure to clean and disinfect your shoes afterwards to prevent further loss of the woods where Bigfoot lives.

Make sure you have the latest wherigo cartridge. Pay attention to Bud as you hike - read what Bud has to offer and press the appropriate buttons so that the cartridge plays as intended. Bud sometimes shows up in unexpected places, so keep your player handy. An embedded sound file is not supported with Garmin devices, so be sure to download the pocket pc cartridge if your device handles sound.

----------------------

Bud Flout Expeditions assumes no liability for any behavior of Bigfoot. Although there is no documented case in the past 100 years of Bigfoot doing deliberate harm to a person, they may try to scare humans off their trail. And they can smell. All members of the expedition join at their own risk.
