Geocache Description:

DOONCHON wetland

DoonChon wetland is one of unknown place in Seoul. DoonChon wetland is very small but it has perfect ecosystem so we can easily find so many small aquatic animals and plant.
Frog, Birch, Bird, Sparrow Hawk, Toad … countless pieces of plant & animals are there.
In the summer sometimes I couldn’t sleep because of croaking frogs. It is a place of origin of nature and it is small universe of ecosystems.

Even if DoonChon wetland is registered by Seoul metro politan office in 2000 as a preserve area, now it is faced some critical issue. Some people said that to protect the wet land, it need more buffer land around it but currently there is no more buffer land for because it is not easy to make buffer area. Currently wetland is surrounded by farm, church, temple and it is getting closer.

I am not sure it will sustain 10 years or 5 years… but we have to keep trying to protect it because it is a rest place for animals and plant. If it is the world where animals can not live anymore, human also can not live.

When the animal and human live together… that time the world it is valuable for all.
