WHILE IN OAHU SPREADING THE ASHES OF OUR DEPARTED, WE THOUGHT HOW APPROPRIATE IT WOULD BE TO START A CACHE IN HIS HONOR TO KEEP HIS MEMORY ALIVE. AS KIDS WE PLAYED ON THESE TRAILS.
THE HONOLULU ADVERTISER PUBLISHED THIS ARTICLE ON HIM CLICK THIS LINK TO VIEW link here

WHEN YOU DO LOCATE THE CACHE, TAKE THE TIME TO SIT AND READ WHAT IS WRITTEN IN THE CACHE.THE CACHE IS IN A WATERPROOF CONTAINER SO PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO CLOSE IT PROPERLY.AS IN ANY HAWAIIAN FOREST AREA, PLEASE PACK OUT YOUR TRASH.AND PICK UP ANY YOU FIND ON THE TRAIL.YOU WILL ENCOUNTER ANCIENT HAWAIIAN ROCK WALLS ON THE TRAIL. WE ASK THAT VISITORS DO NOT TOUCH OR TAMPER WITH THESE SACRED AREAS.IT IS BEST TO LOOK BUT "NO TOUCH" IN RESPECT TO OUR ANCESTORS.PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE OR TAKE ANYTHING MORE THAN YOU CAME WITH (EXCEPT GARBAGE AND MEMORIES).IF YOU GET "ONO BLOOD",MOSQUITO REPELLENT IS A GOOD IDEA. MAHALO AND ENJOY!

*FTF Do me a favor and bring a writing device. We didn't have one when we placed the cache. "Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"> Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Maunawili falls is a beautiful swimming hole and waterfall. It is 1.3 miles from the begining of the trail marker to the falls, but the cache is at the very start of the main trail.

Small note on cache maintenance: WCC Geocaching has graciously agreed to assist. Thanks!

Behind a rock by a tree with exposed roots across a creek....that describes every inch of the Maunawili trail. I may have had more success if I had looked at the gallery before I set out, those rocks look familiar but they were so far away from the coords AND the creek that I didn't search there too thoroughly. On the plus side I did have fun climbing the exposed roots of a giant tree clinging to the embankment of the creek. Thanks for the hunt.

On the trail today and went over to check on the cache. I didn't spend too much time hunting for it, but I couldn't find it . I hope I just missed it and it is still there.

No luck today. Guess my geosenses were off. Didn't have much time to look as I was hiking with the whole family (2 under age 4, and 2 over age 60). Checked the biggest trees and tried to keep my feet dry but in the end had to give up and catch up with the group. Too bad. Maybe next time.

Found this cache after we found The coffee cache and visited the falls. We love this area. Boy did we get muddy. We had a blast. Thanks
