Medallion #1 Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

WheelsMan: The cache is indeed, gone. Someone cleared a bunch of vegetation around where it was hiding. Replacing the cache would mean finding another hiding spot, and thus re-working the puzzle. So, sadly, archiving this one after its long run.

Geocache Description:

An easy puzzle to introduce you to a nice family park.

The above coordinates are not those of the cache.

This is a medium-sized cache in a busy neighborhood park. Bring the kids, there is a nice play structure. We placed the cache to commemorate the Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District (THPRD) Medallion Hunt of 2003. Questions 3 and 4 are in the style that the THPRD used in their hunt.

The above coordinates bring you to an interesting plaque that will give you the information you need to find the cache. Once you deduce the coordinates, it’s just a short walk to the cache.

As of 10/24/03, I have reworked the clues to make more sense.

Using the information on the plaque, obtain the answers to these questions:

1. How many years did the McCormacks own this property?
A = ____________

2. How many acres were included in the Welch property?
B = ____________

3. Put together the following letters: Second line, fourth letter; fourth line, first letter; fourth line, tenth letter.
C = ____________

4. Put together the following letters: Seventh line, sixth letter; first line, fifth letter; fourth line, sixth letter; ninth line, eighth letter.
D = ____________

EEE = ( B * 2 ) + A + D

FFF = ( A * 2 ) + B – C

Coordinates are:

N 45 28.FFF
W 122 48.EEE

The cache is within a few feet of a trail, no bushwhacking is necessary. Please be discreet when retrieving and replacing the cache. Be sure it stays well hidden, as the park has lots of visitors. The cache contains a log book, pen, and some small trade items. There is also a THPRD t-shirt for the first finder.

For the curious, the THPRD medallion was located at N 45 28.343, W 122 48.684 under a log.
