Fred Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

MVG: Well it was a great ride while it lasted but eventually all good things must come to an end.
Most of the original hides have been changed over the years and most of the original hiders have either dropped out of geocaching or moved out of the area. Many thanks to all who helped get this thing started. The original hiders consisted of Street Surgeon, Portly Penquins,
saxmerz, B n J, Riversurfer, boydfamily, Team Jedi, 2Synders and TheTreasureThree.
At the end one stage was off limits as signs and chains were blocking the access, Invasive removal was encroaching on another stage, the first stage was moved to another location and stage 10 was removed a few years ago.
Thanks again to all who helped with the cache setup and to all those who took the time to hunt this crazy multi cache down! Good bye old friend!

Geocache Description:

Codename: Fred The Miami Valley Obsessive Compulsive geocache Tour
Size: Large Difficulty 4 Terrain 4

This multistage cache is the most ambitious effort undertaken
by the Miami Valley Geocachers. It may be the most ambitious cache
placed by any organization. Along the way, you will
meander all around the Miami Valley.
While this cache can certainly be completed
in one very ambitious day of adventure, it was designed in such
a way that you will drive near other geocaches
located in the area.

So I’m sure you’ll want a little more information. There are eleven
stages to this cache. Some of them are easier than
others, but then again, easy is relative. 9 different caching teams
placed the different stages, so there will be no consistency
to the hides.
Also, we are not telling you who hid each stage until the end of
the hunt, so you can’t think about other caches you’ve found by
that team. When we did a trial run of this cache, we had in our
group, three hunter/outdoorsmen, a registered nurse, four puzzle
solvers, two brave children to go where the adults wouldn’t fit,
three Eagle Eye cachers, an experienced rafting guide, a pregnant
lady and a certified scuba diver. Believe it or not, everyone one
in our party was pivotal to the completion of the task. Yes, it
will be tough, but it will be fun.

How much fun? 150 miles and three counties worth. What sort of fun?
Multiple stages large enough to trade travel bugs and other items,
devilishly hidden micros, and the occasional puzzle to send you
into a head scratching frenzy. What kind of puzzles? Well, you’ll
have to see for yourself.

The final stage is a large container full of high end trade items.
So keep that in mind when you make your final assault. This container
is full of movies, books, maps, stuffed animals, toys,
watches…well, you get the point. So please trade accordingly. It
wouldn’t be fair to the next cache hunter if you took a DVD movie
and left a dirty golf ball in its place.

So do it alongside your regular caching time, or make a weekend of
it, this is sure to be a great adventure for anyone brave enough to
attempt it.

Note: all stages were placed with permission of the land owner/steward.
