Easy Chair Crater, a Quaternary cinder cone.
Easy Chair Crater, a Quaternary cinder cone shaped like an arm chair, is in the Lunar Crater field, Nye County. Girl is holding an unusually large crystal (megacryst) of clinopyroxene, which has odd holes that are about a millimeter in diameter and as long as the crystal (3 centimeters).
Example of amphibole cleavage
Unusually large crystals of several minerals may be found here as inclusions in the lava at at Easy Chair Crater. This is a specimen of a fairly large black amphibole crystal showing characteristic amphibole cleavage angles.
Large glassy clinopyroxene crystal found here
Unusually large crystals of several minerals may be found as inclusions in the lava at this crater. This is a specimen of glassy green clinopyroxene found on th eslopes of Easy Chair Crater.
Variety of minerals
Here is a sampling of the variety of minerals that may be collected at this locality in a relatively short time. Pyroxene, amphibole, olivine, and plagiclase feldspar are fairly common as large crystals within the lavas of Easy Chair Crater.

August 21, 2009 by Me & Bucky (8275 found)
Bucky & I found this one while cruising south on the fifth day of our trip down to Las Vegas from Northeast Oregon. We stayed last night in the parking lot of Lunar Crater, and would visit several volcanic features, Project Faultless, and the oldest cache in Nevada before getting to Las Vegas by the end of the day.Up to the rim to take some pictures for the EarthCache, then side-sloped inside the crater to the area of the cache. The soil was very soft, and my boots were making tracks about 3" deep. Found the cache quickly, then checked out the different rocks in the area. Thanks for the great cache!!

November 29, 2008 by SKWERL (3088 found) This was a lot more interesting than I thought it would be when I said "what's another 0.26 miles???" Gaining access to the cache site was a bit more challenging than I'd anticipated from the terrain rating, but there were a lot of great views and interesting formations to keep us occupied. NevadaWolf and I spent a few moments trading rocks (and of course Acorn the Squirrel was there to pose for pictures). Took a couple of rocks, left a signature SKWERL pathtag. The SKWERL

November 29, 2008 by NevadaWolf (2937 found) Enjoying caching out in this beautiful state with SKWERL and Team GeoDragon! After the Earthcache, we made our way over here. Wish I'd known about the location and distance for this one beforehand as it would have made it easier and safer. We hiked along the ridge, which wasn't bad but the wind was blowing hard causing my asthma to act up. We ended up above the cliffs and discovered that in fact we needed to be below. I'm comfortable on bare rock, but that direction is the most dangerous approach. Working our way down, we came upon GZ. Note that the large wall is blocking half the sky, so coords are off. Look about 30 feet north for the cache. Made our mark and made our way out of the site.

September 25, 2008 by Grand High Pobah (16998 found) 7:19. I hiked over to the cache after doing the earthcache. I stayed up a little to long and needed to backtrack down to the level of the cache. TFTC. TNLNSL
